Proposed changes to school admissions in Brighton & Hove


On 21 February 2006 the Children, Families and Schools Committee again agreed to accept the recommendations of the Admissions Committee Report that there be no change to the current admissions system for those children who at the moment are in Year 5.

A Working Group, to be chaired in future by the Assistant Director, Schools, will carry out further work and modelling to try and obtain a system, for possible implementation in 2008, that is fair for the whole city not just a vocal few.

Scrutiny Panel referral
On 7 February 2006, the Education Scrutiny Committee voted to send the issue of Secondary School Admissions back to the CF&S Committee to look again at their decision of 23 January 2006 the Children, Families and Schools Committee agreed to accept the recommendations of the Admissions Committee Report.
